After basics, there is not much left. I used an xyz wing to advance to the solution.

Code:

+-----------+--------+--------+
| 9   4  7  | 2  6 3 | 8 5  1 |
| 3   26 26 | 8  1 5 | 9 4  7 |
| 15  58 18 | 4  9 7 | 6 2  3 |
+-----------+--------+--------+
| 26  26 4  | 3  7 9 | 1 8  5 |
| 8   9  5  | 1  4 2 | 7 3  6 |
| 7   1  3  | 6  5 8 | 2 9  4 |
+-----------+--------+--------+
| 16  57 9  | 57 2 4 | 3 16 8 |
| 4   78 68 | 9  3 1 | 5 67 2 |
| 125 3  12 | 57 8 6 | 4 17 9 |
+-----------+--------+--------+

I saw four moves after basics, any of which would be a one-stepper.

XYZ on 125
BUG+1
XY on 681
XY on 162 with pincer transport

Norm, I believe we have two xy-wings126; one with pivot <12> at r9c3 that deletes <6> at r8c3 and another one with pivot <16> at r7c1 that deletes <2> at r9c1. I did not spot one that used a pincer transport.

Given the code posted by crunched, set r9c1=1 to prevent the BUG and you get naked singles all the way home. It is hard to lost in that maze.......

Yeah - I had a senior moment. For a Bug+1 you KEEP the no. in the triple that is thrice seen - not remove it.

You mean the Vanhegan Fiendish 11/15? It was horrible - far too obscure and inaccessible - probably one of the worst Sudokus of all time.
I was going to post a comment to that effect - but didn't want to appear negative.

Norm, do you have the puzzle? I haven't been able to access the site, at least during the 5:00 EST hour.

no. and I haven't been able to access his site either. the puzzle was diamond shaped. and the first advanced move I saw was a strange "hinge/grouped" coloring move on 5.

The Vahegan for 11/15 was posted and many folks seemed to enjoy it. What was it that you did not like?

The site can be accessed, and the puzzles displayed, it you choose the HTML option. It seems only the (default) Flash version has that problem (it says max. syndication or some such gibberish ...)

I've opened a thread over in the "Other" section
