I pride myself on doing these without pencil marks. This one had me stumped for hours!
No advanced moves required.

Norm,
You're using pencil marks! This is where I got stuck, after recognizing two hidden pairs:
Code: | .----------.-----------.----------.
| 8 1 . | 4 . . | 3 . 9 |
| . . 9 | 38 38 . | 6 1 . |
| . . 3 . . 1 | 8 . 2 |
:----------+-----------+----------:
| . 5 . | . . 9 | . . . |
| 1 9 . | 2 5 8 | . . 3 |
| . . . | . . . | . 9 . |
:----------+-----------+----------:
| 9 . 7 | 5 . . | 1 . . |
| . 6 1 | . . 4 | 9 . . |
| . . . | 19 19 3 | . . 6 |
'----------'-----------'----------' |
Now that I look at it, it seems so obvious!

Well posted!! I think some of these very hard "hards" are more enjoyable than those that require advanced techniques. Here I struggled to find the quads and hidden pairs - but I still understood what I was looking for. For the very hards I use xy wings and URs by rote - but I've long forgotten or even care how they work. They are just tricks.
That's my philosophical rant for the day. |

For me it was the 2678 quad in box 8.
