Interesting! My final PM resembles a BUG+2, but I can't get it to work as a BUG+2 in my head.
Code: | +-----------------------------------------------------+
| 2 8 49 | 6 45 7 | 159 3 15 |
| 1 6 5 | 3 9 2 | 4 7 8 |
| 7 34 39 | 45 1 8 | 2 69 569 |
|-----------------+-----------------+-----------------|
| 8 49 7 | 45 56 3 | 69 1 2 |
| 5 39 23 | 7 26 1 | 8 69 4 |
| 6 1 24 | 8 24 9 | 7 5 3 |
|-----------------+-----------------+-----------------|
| 3 5 8 | 9 7 4 | 16 2 16 |
| 9 2 6 | 1 8 5 | 3 4 7 |
| 4 7 1 | 2 3 6 | 59 8 59 |

Norm,
Are you trying to make me happy?
Edit: After an X-wing 4, an XY-wing -239 and an XYZ-wing 56-9
I get to here:
Code: | +-------------+-------------+-------------+
| 2 8 49 | 6 45 7 | 159 3 15 |
| 1 6 5 | 3 9 2 | 4 7 8 |
| 7 349 39 | 45 1 8 | 2 69 569 |
+-------------+-------------+-------------+
| 8 49 7 | 45 56 3 | 69 1 2 |
| 5 39 239 | 7 26 1 | 8 69 4 |
| 6 1 24 | 8 24 9 | 7 5 3 |
+-------------+-------------+-------------+
| 3 5 8 | 9 7 4 | 16 2 16 |
| 9 2 6 | 1 8 5 | 3 4 7 |
| 4 7 1 | 2 3 6 | 59 8 59 |
+-------------+-------------+-------------+ |
There is a hidden UR <39> in R35C23. R3C3 and R5C2 must be <3>. This opens up a skyscraper which takes out <9> in R1C7. The puzzle is toast!
Edit: Deleted incorrect comment on the BUG+2.

Danny,
The Deadly Pattern is such that every unsolved cell has two candidates, and that each candidate exists exactly twice in each row, column and box.
I cannot see a potential DP here.

Keith, there's nothing hidden, it's a full Type 6. I actually used seven ordinary moves, with the Type 6 and coloring on 9 as the last two. That last coloring takes out the same 9 as your skyscraper. I probably had the skyscraper and didn't notice it. |

I'm strangely stuck here. I used the x-wings on 4, an xy wing on 249 and and ER on 9 and have actually gone further than Keith's grid - in R3C2 I just have a 34 and in R5C3 a 23. As such I can't see any UR.
BUT I still have a 159 in R1C9. How did the 9 get removed? |

Keith referred to an XYZ-wing 56-9.
I suspect this is pivoted on r3c9 and does the trick.

Yes, quite! Thank you. Though still don't see last move - the colouring doesn't seem to work. |
