Our newspaper stated with a puzzle "Saturday's puzzle cannot be solved exclusively by logic, some guesswork, or trial and error, is involved"
Is this true?

No guesswork or trial and error is required. Here is one solution path, and I'm sure there are others.
First, a 14 Remote Naked Pair:

very nice puzzle! I know of at least a couple other solvers on this site who will love this puzzle with all the available moves. AND combine that with the fact that I don't see a VH move which solves it in one.
But unlike what the newspaper has said, this puzzle is definitely solved with logic.
there is no guess work needed. |

Thank you so much. We haven't mastered RNP and Turbot Fish. I have just gotten where I can find most xy wings.
We can do all hards and then really have to work on the VH. These Saturday puzzles in our paper are very challenging so we will have to keep at it. |

What is the newspaper, and does the puzzle have any copyright or other indication of its source?
Also, how do you post a question about Saturday's puzzle on Friday?
