I did spot a Sashimi Swordfish that did not provide any direct eliminations, but Quote: | treating it like a Kraken Swordfish, I deleted 6 from r3c4. Then a Type 1 UR 49, coloring 1 and a xy-wing 136 completed the task.
| I did not spot the Jelly.

After basics, there is a finned (non-Sashimi) Swordfish that produces an elimination. I didn't find a Jellyfish, either. |

I never thought that it was the easy way.
Code: | .------------.-------------------.--------------.

| 4 2 9 | 7 *156 *15 | 56 3 8 |

| 26 16 4 | 13 58-1 235-1 | 7 58 9 |
| 9 7 3 | 56 568 4 | 18 2 15 |
:------------+----------------- -+--------------:
| 26 4 25 | 15 9 8 | 16 7 3 |

Edited to correct r2c5, thanks Danny.

I look for big fish.
I am aware that they are often the long path. |

With your PM, there definitely isn't an easy way! You may wish to review the contents of cell [r2c5] -- <156>!
This puzzle has many solution paths. When you find a Jellyfish this deep into the solution, there's no guarantee that others will encounter it as well. I had a finned Franken Swordfish that took out [r5c5]<>1 prior to your Jellyfish ... and ... it took out the Jellyfish in the process. |

Yep. I doubt that anyone, but you, finds a franken anything before a jelly or sashimi-sword. I have been wrong before, will be again, I doubt it on this one?
What does surprise me is that nobody else sees the jelly or the sashimi-sword. I guess my preference for big fish handicaps me in seeing other patterns. <sigh> |

I don't know what a sashimi is, but I've basically given up--a long time ago--on swordfish and jellyfish. Perhaps I don't know when to look for them and don't how to look for them efficiently, but they're too much effort for too little return. |

I mostly agree with you.
I look for them because I like them.
I do not suggest them as a solving method, unless you enjoy finding them.
Remote pairs are about as rare.
M-wings, probably.
Look for what interests you, as I am sure we all do.
Edited to add:
Skyscraper is the basic sashimi.
It is an x-wing where only one pair of the strong links line up.
All sashimi are fish where one level does not line up. Simple, to me. |

An Empty Rectangle is a finned Franken X-Wing, and lots of members seem to have no trouble finding them. It's just a slight stretch to extend it to a finned Franken Swordfish.

I spent 30 minutes using my solver to try and find which steps you used to get to the PM with the Jellyfish. I finally decided that I didn't want to know badly enough |

Why would any one try nasty methods to avoid ER, a horrible step. Fair Ball.
I didn't get to the Jelly on purpose, I don't use some steps, or miss them, and there I was.
Wait a sec. Franken something is just an ER?
Why would anyone make it harder to spot? |
