So are you, as in UR.

There was a potential DP on 25-28-58 in boxes 369. Just looking at the implications of the various candidates that could kill the DP was enough to solve the puzzle. |

I don't follow.

To me the fact that one of r5c78 must be 9 ruins the DP. |

You may very well be right; I'm not exactly a Sudoku whiz. However, I have no intermediate grid, so I can't comment, and at least for the next few hours, I can't redo it. Maybe I'll try later and learn something.

Happy belated Canada Day. |

OK, I redid it. I thought I had an obligation for the evening that it turned out that I didn't.

This is where basics took me and I just don't understand how the 9 in r5c78 breaks up the DP. I'm not saying it doesn't, I'm just saying I don't understand. I'm working on a DP of 58-25-28 in r269c78.

Well, one of r5c78 must be a 9.

The set of 258 is broken by that. |

Yes, that's what you said earlier. What I see is that if r5c8=9, then there is a Type 1 on 28. But if r5c7=9, then I don't see the breakup. |

Dan, I seem to have a mental block recently finding W-wings. In this case, I found your first one, but do not see the second w-wing that you posted.

Please help. (And yes, I did start the July4 celebration somewhat early.)

I was on the wrong 258s.

I am not sure that that helps me.

I finally found it, Danny's comment below sparked a light for me.

I could not find it either. There are so many w-wings I got lost.

try a w-wing 17 => r456c1<>1 then an xy_wing 954 =>r6c7<>4 along with the three w-wings to solve it --- I think

Thanks for keeping me straight--

Have a good 4th! |

Nice DP After initially missing some obvious implications, I managed to finally get [r4c5]=1 from it. |

Marty, I got lost/confused looking at the implication of the various candidats that could kill the DP.

Would you please provide some insight.

Thanks......

Marty, given a clue by Danny, I was able to follow all the implications.
