I had a tough time with this one. Two XY-Wings, four ERs and a UR and I hit the wall. A Medusa wrap opened up a couple of W-Wings and a Kite, but I needed another Medusa wrap to finish up. |

Congratulations Marty on finding a workaround to the M-Wing at the end (where you hit the wall). The rest of your solution matches my solver for the most part -- assuming your UR was a Type 4. |

Yes, it was a Type 4 on 38. |

I spent more time and energy on this puzzle and any other in the recent past.
I started with a xy-wing -589,
then three consecutive ERs on 5,
a w-wing 48,
kite on 8,
xy-wing -459 and then I hit the wall.
I finally found a conflicting chain that eliminated 8 form r7c8 which set up a xy-wing 47-8 to complete the puzzle.
Would you please pass the Scotch bottle!!!

Yes, I suspected this puzzle would cause problems. Too many eliminations that don't contribute to a solution ... and a rough final step.
Code: | c3b4 Locked Candidate 1 <> 4 r789c3
r2 b1 Locked Candidate 1 <> 9 r2c78
XY-Wing r6c2/r1c2+r5c1 <> 5 r2c1 extraneous
c49r3 Skyscraper <> 5 r7c5,r9c7 extraneous
r1c4 2-String Kite <> 5 r9c2 extraneous
r1c1 2-String Kite <> 8 r8c5
XY-Wing r1c5/r2c6+r8c5 <> 4 r3c5,r89c6
c6b8 Locked Pair <> 38 r7c5 extraneous
r89c26 <38> UR Type 4 <> 8 r89c2 extraneous
gM-Wing: (4=9)r5c7 - r3c7 = (9-4)r3c8 = (4)r7c8 => r89c7<>4
