Congratulations Norm on a great find !!!

My solver found 2x overlapping 2-String Kites and performed r2c2<>15. However, it's (currently) not capable of finding the grouped strong link in b1, so it wasn't able to extend the path.

However, I'm surprised that you didn't use the <15> as a classic Remote Pair in the second grid.

Code:
+-------------------+----------------+------------------+
| 157   4     2     | 1578  3   158  | 15      9   6    |
| 9     6     157   | 157   2   4    | 8       15  3    |
| 15    8     3     | 6     59  159  | 24      24  7    |
+-------------------+----------------+------------------+
| 3    (15)   1456  | 459   59  7    | 246-15  24  8    |
| 2     7     8     | 45    1   6    | 45      3   9    |
| 4-15  9     46-15 | 2     8   3    | 1456    7  (15)  |
+-------------------+----------------+------------------+
| 6     2     159   | 1589  7   1589 | 3       15  4    |
| 47   (15)   47    | 3     6   2    | 9       8  (15)  |
| 8     3     159   | 159   4   159  | 7       6   2    |
+-------------------+----------------+------------------+

Regards, Danny

It's a good find, but proved to be extraneous in the various solutions my solver proposed for the puzzle. Similarly, for the <59> and <45> UR eliminations.

I used six steps, some of which appear unnecessary given the comments already posted.

Type 1 UR 24,
ER on 5,
A w-wing 15 with pincers in r2c8 & r6c9. col7 has a strong link in both 1 & 5. However for both cases, the pincer in r6c9 must be transported to r8c2 to delete both 1 & 5 from r2c2.
Remote Pair15 deletes 15 from two cells: r6c13.
Finally coloring on 5 deletes a bunch to complete the puzzle.
