I don't see the 39 UR. After the basics, I had:
Code: |
+--------+-------------+-------------+
| 5 8 9 | 4 36 1 | 7 36 2 |
| 3 7 4 | 69 2 5 | 69 8 1 |
| 6 2 1 | 39 8 7 | 5 4 39 |
+--------+-------------+-------------+
| 4 56 2 | 8 1359 39 | 136 1356 7 |
| 1 56 7 | 35 4 2 | 369 3569 8 |
| 8 9 3 | 157 157 6 | 2 15 4 |
+--------+-------------+-------------+
| 2 13 5 | 67 67 4 | 8 139 39 |
| 7 13 8 | 135 1359 39 | 4 2 6 |
| 9 4 6 | 2 13 8 | 13 7 5 |
+--------+-------------+-------------+

In column 5, the 9s are a strong link. This is the definition of a Type 4 UR (strong link on one of the numbers) and the other number, in this case, 3, is removed from both cells. |

After basics:
Code: | <39> UR Type 4 in r48c56
Type 4 because of X-Wing on <9> in these cells
=> r48c5<>3
*-----------------------------------------------------------*
| 5 8 9 | 4 36 1 | 7 36 2 |
| 3 7 4 | 69 2 5 | 69 8 1 |
| 6 2 1 | 39 8 7 | 5 4 39 |
|-------------------+-------------------+-------------------|
| 4 56 2 | 8 *1359 *39 | 136 1356 7 |
| 1 56 7 | 35 4 2 | 369 3569 8 |
| 8 9 3 | 157 157 6 | 2 15 4 |
|-------------------+-------------------+-------------------|
| 2 13 5 | 67 67 4 | 8 139 39 |
| 7 13 8 | 135 *1359 *39 | 4 2 6 |
| 9 4 6 | 2 13 8 | 13 7 5 |

It's been over two days since I posted this puzzle. I think it's time that I post a solution and make an announcement.
Code: | r19\c58 Sashimi X-Wing/Skyscraper <> 3 r7c8 extraneous
r9c6 2-String Kite <> 3 r4c7
<16+5> XY-Wing r4c7/r4c2+r6c8 <> 5 r4c8 extraneous
r48c56 <39> UR Type 4 <> 3 r48c5 extraneous
<13+6> XYZ-Wing r4c8/r1c8+r4c7 <> 6 r5c8 extraneous
(3=9)r3c9 - r2c7 = (9-3)r5c7 = (3)r9c7 [gM-Wing ] <> 3 r7c9
+-----------------------------------------------------+
| 5 8 9 | 4 36 1 | 7 36 2 |
| 3 7 4 | 69 2 5 | b69 8 1 |
| 6 2 1 | 39 8 7 | 5 4 a39 |
|-----------------+-----------------+-----------------|
| 4 56 2 | 8 159 39 | 16 136 7 |
| 1 56 7 | 35 4 2 | c369 359 8 |
| 8 9 3 | 157 157 6 | 2 15 4 |
|-----------------+-----------------+-----------------|
| 2 13 5 | 67 67 4 | 8 19 39 |
| 7 13 8 | 135 159 39 | 4 2 6 |
| 9 4 6 | 2 13 8 | d13 7 5 |
+-----------------------------------------------------+
# 37 eliminations remain
|
I have a number of puzzles where a gM-Wing is used to get around an XY-Chain. I now believe these puzzles are unreasonable to post. So, I'm going to delete them. However, puzzles where a W-Wing is used to get around an XY-Chain will still be fair game for posting.
Regards, Danny |

So, I'm going to delete them. | There is at least two more m-wings (another 39 and a 36) or short xy-chains that remove the 3 from r1c8 and solve the puzzle. I have just gotten to where I can spot them. Sorry to see them go. |
