Which one is this?
Code:
 *-----------------------------------------------------------*
 | 2     138   7     | 5     9     13    | 18    4     6     |
 | 18    9     1368  | 67    4     123   | 1278  5     28    |
 | 4     5     16    | 67    8     12    | 127   3     9     |
 |-------------------+-------------------+-------------------|
 | 3     128   128   | 4     6     7     | 9     12    5     |
 | 7     6     5     | 1     2     9     | 3     8     4     |
 | 19    124   1249  | 8     3     5     | 6     7     12    |
 |-------------------+-------------------+-------------------|
 | 189   138   1389  | 2     5     68    | 4     16    7     |
 | 5     7     248   | 9     1     468   | 28    26    3     |
 | 6     1248  1248  | 3     7     48    | 5     9     128   |
 *-----------------------------------------------------------*
(1=2)r6c9 - (2=8)r2c9 - (8)r2c1 = (8)r7c1 - (8=6)r7c6 - (6=1)r7c8  => r4c8<>1 r9c9<>1

It appears to be a routine AIC. One of those my solver lists as solving the puzzle in a single step.

The alternative is to solve a few more VH and VH+ steps before getting to where you have a choice from four gM-Wings. The gM-Wing uses two values in four cells -- as I described in another post.

Regards, Danny

Danny, are you using the term gM-Wing to mean the same thing as described by nataraj here, which I just reviewed today?

after the xy-wing {1,2,8} that removes 1 from r6c1...

I see this m-wing

Code:
+------------------+-----------+-----------------+
| 2     18    7    | 5  9  3   | 18  4     6     |
| (18)  9     3    | 6  4  12  | 7   5     2(8)  |
| 4     5     6    | 7  8  12  | 12  3     9     |
+------------------+-----------+-----------------+
| 3     128   128  | 4  6  7   | 9   12    5     |
| 7     6     5    | 1  2  9   | 3   8     4     |
| 9     124   124  | 8  3  5   | 6   7     12    |
+------------------+-----------+-----------------+
| 8-1   3     9    | 2  5  68  | 4   6(1)  7     |
| 5     7     248  | 9  1  468 | 28  26    3     |
| 6     1248  1248 | 3  7  48  | 5   9     2(18) |
+------------------+-----------+-----------------+

(1=8)r2c1 - (8)r2c9 = (8-1)r9c9 = (1)r7c8; r7c1 <> 1

Short Answer: yes.

I'm using an AIC chain to mimic most of Keith's constraints for the M-Wing.
