Sup, Norm.
Another lonely unsolved puzzle, so...
...is this the hintular m-ring?
At the SSTS position:
Code: | *--------------------------------------------------------------------*
| 13 5 2 | 4 9 7 | 8 13 6 |
| 4 136 67 | 13 135 8 | 357 9 2 |
| 137 9 8 | 6 135 2 | 3457 1347 135 |
|----------------------+----------------------+----------------------|
| 8 4 1 | 9 23 5 | 6 23 7 |
| 6 2 9 | 13 7 134 | 345 8 35 |
| 5 7 3 | 8 24 6 | 1 24 9 |
|----------------------+----------------------+----------------------|
|*137 136 5 | 2 13468 1349 | 39 *1367 138 |
| 2 8 *67 | 5 -613 139 | 379 *1367 4 |
| 9 136 4 | 7 1368 13 | 2 5 138 |
*--------------------------------------------------------------------* |
(7=6)r8c3-(6)r8c8=(6-7)r7c8=(7)r7c1-loop =>r8c5<>6 (among the elims), STTE.

yes, that would be it.
I probably should have been more specific that the m-ring comes after a few coloring steps like simple sudoku would have found.
the M-ring would be available and deals a death blow to this puzzle at the SSTS grid.
just in case you are wondering the first three SSTS steps are
skyscraper
kite
and a x-chain
which will make available the m-ring. |

The m-wing is commonly seen in this forum, but not so much the m-ring. Too bad, because as a loop, it's potentially more powerful than the m-wing.
For some nice examples, there's this thread over yonder. |
