I'm humbled and deeply appreciative to have a puzzle named for me, even though I'm unaware of any reason for that particular honor to have been bestowed upon me.
Having said that, I butchered the damn thing and had to slog my way through six steps to reach the finish line.

Marty,
Your special, per Danny, is to get the MAXIMUM number of VH/VH+ moves before completing the puzzle. One easy way to help become the winner is to avoid cleanup after any move but we would not cheat, would we

As is obvious by now, the puzzle can be solved with a minimal number of steps. The only way I could think to make it interesting was to see if anyone was willing to search for alternative moves to the XYZ-Wing. Your inclination to not take shortcuts is why this puzzle is dedicated to you.

Ah, now I understand.

I have no way of knowing for sure. But it's reasonable to assume I didn't see that or something else basic since I needed the subsequent steps. |

I found searching for the maximum number of moves very difficult. Many of the steps I found resulted in major damage so I did not use them.
Overall I got a total of 12 steps, 8 on digit 2 and 2 that Danny may not accept as valid VH/VH+ moves.
Danny, are Hidden URs valid? And how about using pseudocells?
The details are to gory to present and are probably not of interest anyway but I did not use the xyz-wing 248.

This puzzle was a departure from normal. I knew there were other steps available besides the XYZ-Wing. So, I decided to open the solution up to any other steps that players were willing to search out and contribute.
There are no right nor wrong steps/solutions. The spirit of "the hunt" was my objective. I wish to thank everyone for their effort and for contributing a variety of steps towards making the solution of this puzzle interesting
