My number of moves was 400% more than Dan's. I used an X, W, Skyscraper, coloring and XY-Chain. |

M-wings seem to be the topic of the day recently so that is what I started looking for, and to my amazement I believe that I found one but I do not know how to easily describe it. Crudely, it is the three 36s, in r1c8, then r8c7, then r7c8 plus the strong link on 6 in r4c8. This sequence deletes 6 in r4c1.
(As an AIC: (6=3)r8c1 - r8c7 = r7c8 - (3=6)r4c8; r4c1<>6.) This sets up the next move.
An AIC I found by extending the vertex of a potential xy-wing.
(5=2)r4c1 - r5c1 = r5c9 - (2=6)r3c9 - (6=5)r3c7; r3c1|r4c7<>5.

Ted, your prose first mentions r1c8, but the notation is r8c1. If the notation is correct, then it looks like a standard M-Wing save for the fact that all three cells were 36. If the middle cell were, say, 23, you'd probably say the 36 cells were connected by strong links on 3 and you extended the 6. It also seems like it could be a simple coloring chain on 6. Or maybe I'm missing something. |

i went with a s-wing (after ssts)
5- r1c3 =5= r6c3 -5- r4c1 -2- r4c8 =2= r1c8 -2 => r1c3<>2, r1c8<>5 |

take your pick for the final step!
Code: | c17 X-Wing <> 5 r3c3,r4c38 -or-
r16 X-Wing <> 5 r3c3,r4c38
c38 X-Wing <> 6 r4c17
W-Wing (2=5)r1c8 - r1c3 = r3c1 - (5=2)r4c1 => r4c8<>2
W-Wing (5=2)r1c3 - r1c8 = r4c8 - (2=5)r4c1 => r3c1,r6c3<>5
M-Wing (5=2)r4c1 - r4c8 = (2-5)r1c8 = (5)r3c7 => r3c1,r4c7<>5
M-Wing (5=2)r4c1 - r4c8 = (2-5)r1c8 = (5)r6c8 => r4c7,r6c3<>5
