The xyz-wing 167 16 17 makes r4c1=2 which solves the puzzle. |

Didn't need anything special for this one, just filled in the numbers, eliminated those that weren't possible and then used sweep. Finished it in 6 minutes 16 seconds which is fast for me for a VH, usually expect them to take a minimum of 9 minutes. |

Code: | +----------------+----------------+----------------+
| 3 6 29 | 7 89 5 | 4 129 18 |
| 29 8 4 | 1 3 6 | 7 29 5 |
| 17 17 5 | 2 89 4 | 89 3 6 |
+----------------+----------------+----------------+
| 12 9 8 | 6 12 3 | 5 7 4 |
| 167 4 16 | 5 17 9 | 23 8 23 |
| 257 357 23 | 8 4 27 | 1 6 9 |
+----------------+----------------+----------------+
| 1589 2 139 | 4 57 17 | 6 19 138 |
| 4 13 7 | 9 6 8 | 23 5 123 |
| 689 15 69 | 3 25 12 | 89 4 7 |

Hi Keith you could be right, I did it again this time it took 3 minutes 33 seconds I certainly didn't reduce the grid to the same point you have, the key for me was the 23s r5c7, r5,c9, r8,c7 and 123 r8,c9. I assumed r8,c9 was 1 much earlier and the puzzle just solves itself. Maybe my logic is wrong, but it works! |

You have used a unique rectangle, which is generally considered an advanced move and therefore "special".
