One step solution
Quote:
Cell r8c1 is at the same time at the origin of 3 spokes and a member of an XWing on 3 => (8)r7c2=NQ(1258)r7c2589 :=> r7c3<>5

Hi JC, great to see you here!

Would you please elaborate? Is your "spoke" akin to Steve K's hub/spoke/rim logic? I'm lost...

I used Peter's three steps of X-Wing (3) and XY-Wing (362) and BUG+1.

Hi Luke451, thanks for the welcome.

Me too and I am confused. Embarassed . While bicycling too fast through the puzzle, I blindly fell into a tautological loophole that broke my rim. Mea culpa.

Here is a more conventional alternative 3-steps proof :

    ER on 8 : 2-SIS (8)b2r7 : => -(8)r1c2
    XWing on 3 : 2-SIS (3)c17 : => -(3)r2c8
    WWing : 3-SIS (2)r4, (12)r2c8 & (12)r7c9 : => -(1)r7c8
