I had a peek at the ratings after reading Peter's "Ouch" comment. My solution was essentially the same as Peter's

Quote:
ER9 with hinge box8 SL r3c35; r8c3<>9, which sets up a
xy-wing 4-79 vertex (49)r3c3; r1c3,r8c1<>7
ER7 with hinge box2 SL r4c26; r1c2<>7 which sets up a
xy-wing 2-59 vertex (29)r2c6; r3c8<>5
xy-wing 47-8 vertex (47)r8c3; r12c2,r9c3<>8
BUG+1 forces r8c2=7

Interesting! Although the choice/order of steps varied slightly, it seems that the actual eliminations were locked -- except for the XY-Wing vs. BUG+1 as the last step.

My solver followed the same general steps.

Code:
 r24\c26 finned  X-Wing                  <> 7    r1c2   -or-
 r4  b2  Empty Rectangle                 <> 7    r1c2
-plus-
 r39\c35 finned  X-Wing                  <> 9    r8c3   -or-
 r3  b8  Empty Rectangle                 <> 9    r8c3

 <49+7>  XY-Wing  r3c3/r2c1+r8c3         <> 7    r1c3,r8c1

 c34\r68 finned  X-Wing                  <> 7    r8c5   extraneous

 <29+5>  XY-Wing  r2c6/r2c8+r3c5         <> 5    r3c8

 <47+8>  XY-Wing  r8c3/r1c3+r7c2         <> 8    r12c2,r9c3

         BUG+1                           =  7    r8c2

Danny, After the 2 ERs I just ploughed on with 4 xy wings and your solver didn't seem to get the final one. Did I make a mistake ? I ask because I am not minded to revisit this one ! Smile

You didn't make a mistake. My last comment (apparently) wasn't clear. You're fine!
