XY-Wing 56 57 67 pivoted in r4c2 eliminating 6 in r8c3 solves it. |

If things look familiar, try Dec. 20. Besides Clement's solution, look for some of the following:
1) 3 more x-wings on 567
2) 4 w-wings on 56
3) 4 w-wings on 67
at that point, my eyeballs caged permanently so there may be more. |

There were a couple of ways to work the 37 UR in boxes 36 plus at least one XY-Chain. |

Marty, would you be so kind as to give the explanation of your 37 UR solution. I'm trying to learn the more difficult UR techniques and this sure looks like one. Is it a type 6?
thanks |

No, it isn't a type anything, just a potential UR or DP.
Code: |
+-----------+---------+-------------+
| 9 2 4 | 56 8 1 | 567 367 367 |
| 8 3 7 | 56 9 4 | 256 26 1 |
| 56 56 1 | 7 3 2 | 8 9 4 |
+-----------+---------+-------------+
| 4 57 2 | 8 6 9 | 1 357 357 |
| 1 9 56 | 2 7 3 | 4 8 56 |
| 67 8 3 | 1 4 5 | 267 267 9 |
+-----------+---------+-------------+
| 2 4 8 | 3 1 67 | 9 567 567 |
| 567 1 56 | 9 2 67 | 3 4 8 |
| 3 67 9 | 4 5 8 | 67 1 2 |

Either r2c8 or 9 must be 6 or r4c8 or 9 must be 5. Testing both possibilities I found a common outcome, that is, r78c6=67. Or taking a different path, 5s in r4c8 or 9 leads to an invalidity, forcing r5c9=5.
P.S. I erred above is saying that r78c6=67 was a common outcome. |
