I'll do it again if you tell me it's necessary, but on the first try it was basics only.
P.S. Same result when I did it on Draw/Play. |

Yes. According to Sudoku Susser, one naked pair and one hidden pair, plus singles.
I don't recall the moves I used when I solved it.

Does that mean the Susser is the way that everyone is going to do it? The point I'm trying to make is that I thought basics could vary depending on the sequence in which the player populates the grid, sometimes discovering moves during this process that wouldn't be necessary as part of basics if he populated it differently. |

Marty,
I think SS will find the hard points that everyone has to solve. At each move, naked single, hidden single, naked pair, hidden pair, naked triple, hidden triple, line/box interactions, quads, remote pairs. Then, it goes on with fish, XY-wings, XYZ-wings, etc. You can exclude or reorder the sequence of what it looks for.
I think most solvers are similar, though draw/play is not explicit about "why".
So, in this puzzle, singles get you here:
Code: | +-------------------+-------------------+-------------------+
| 3568 2 358 | 458 4568 9 | 678 1 4678 |
| 9 146 7 | 3 2 168 | 68 468 5 |
| 1568 146 158 | 1458 7 1568 | 9 3 2 |
+-------------------+-------------------+-------------------+
| 7 13 1358 | 2 1358 4 | 3568 9 368 |
| 2 13 6 | 9 1358 158 | 4 578 378 |
| 358 9 4 | 6 358 7 | 2 58 1 |
+-------------------+-------------------+-------------------+
| 136 5 13 | 148 9 2 | 3678 4678 34678 |
| 4 7 2 | 58 568 3 | 1 568 9 |
| 136 8 9 | 7 1456 156 | 356 2 346 |
+-------------------+-------------------+-------------------+ |
Now what? The naked pair 13 in B4. I don't see anything else.
Further singles get us here:
Code: | +----------------+----------------+----------------+
| 3 2 58 | 458 568 9 | 678 1 4678 |
| 9 46 7 | 3 2 1 | 68 468 5 |
| 58 46 1 | 458 7 568 | 9 3 2 |
+----------------+----------------+----------------+
| 7 13 58 | 2 158 4 | 3568 9 368 |
| 2 13 6 | 9 158 58 | 4 578 378 |
| 58 9 4 | 6 3 7 | 2 58 1 |
+----------------+----------------+----------------+
| 6 5 3 | 1 9 2 | 78 478 478 |
| 4 7 2 | 58 568 3 | 1 568 9 |
| 1 8 9 | 7 4 56 | 356 2 36 |
+----------------+----------------+----------------+ |
Now what? Well, there's a hidden pair 35 in C7 and a triple 478 in B9.
I think everyone would have to go through these steps to remove all the singles.
Or, what I probably did: In the second diagram above there is a SS on 6 in C58.

Thanks for taking the time for that detailed reply. Of course, I forgot most of what I did. |

Yes, I know. You were probably distracted by watching that most British of all Olympic sports, women's beach volleyball.

I like the sport, but don't care for the uniforms. |
