There's a twin to Marty's XY pivoting on r1c2. The tasty looking
148 XY wing pivoted on r1c4 appears to fizzle out after a couple of
eliminations. But there is a a W-wing on 12 (strong link on 2s r2)
which removes the 1 from r3c1 and all fall.

There is a ww wing on 89 operating 8s in col 2 which sets r5c5 to 9 and with a few more entries we get to the 12 wwing that Hughwill describes and that solves it.

Since WWings are not in the standard set of solutions there must be some other method of solving it?

George, I can see an 89 W-Wing connected by 8s in c4 but it doesn't eliminate anything in r5c5 (one of the 89 cells is there)

It eliminates the 9 in R5C6 and hence r5c5=9

There are three XY-wings in the puzzle:

14-5 in C23.
45-1 in C23.
14-8 in C45.
