Thanks immp! I enjoyed that. Here's the grid after basics:
Code: | +---------------+-----------------+-------------+
| 3 29 8 | 49 7 249 | 5 1 6 |
| 125 7 12 | 135 1268 2368 | 4 9 28 |
| 1259 6 4 | 159 128 289 | 3 28 7 |
+---------------+-----------------+-------------+
| 79 39 6 | 2 34 5 | 8 47 1 |
| 8 23 27 | 6 34 1 | 9 47 5 |
| 4 1 5 | 8 9 7 | 2 6 3 |
+---------------+-----------------+-------------+
| 127 8 1237 | 13479 12 2349 | 6 5 24 |
| 27 5 9 | 47 268 2468 | 1 3 248 |
| 6 4 123 | 13 5 238 | 7 28 9 |
+---------------+-----------------+-------------+ |
And then I used a very long chain (again using pencil and paper)! |

Here's the chain that I used (it has to be my longest yet!)
Code: | +------------------+--------------------+-------------+
| 3 b29* 8 | c49 7 a2*49 | 5 1 6 |
| f125 7 g12 | 135 1268 2368 | 4 9 h28 |
| f1259 6 4 | 159 128 289 | 3 i28 7 |
+------------------+--------------------+-------------+
| 79 39 6 | 2 34 5 | 8 47 1 |
| 8 23 27 | 6 34 1 | 9 47 5 |
| 4 1 5 | 8 9 7 | 2 6 3 |
+------------------+--------------------+-------------+
| 127 8 1237 | 13479 m12 2349 | 6 5 n24 |
| e27 5 9 | d47 268 2468 | 1 3 o248 |
| 6 4 123 | L13 5 k238 | 7 j28* 9 |
+------------------+--------------------+-------------+ |
2*r1c6-(2=9*)r1c2-(9=4)r1c4-(4=7)r8c4-(7=2)r8c1-(29*=1|5)r23c1-(1=2)r2c3-r2c9=r3c8-(2=8*)r9c8-(2*8=3)r9c6-(3=1)r9c4-(1=2)r7c5-(2=4)r7c9-(48*=2)r8c9 contradiction (i.e. 2r8c19) => r1c6 <> 2; stte. |

Very nice dongrave. To myself, you are a master of applying chains to reach a solution. Kudos to you.

I surely know that I am not good with chains. Even when following along on your path, somewhere around step k or L I become lost in a forest. LOL
Well done! immp |

Well tidy dongrave!
My solution was not so direct, but I got there in the end
1st step
<12> W wing in x removes <2> from y
2nd step
XY chain abcdef gives pincers of <7> in a + f to remove <7> from x
Code: |
+-----------------+--------------------+----------+
| 3 c29 8 | b49 7 249 | 5 1 6 |
| 125 7 x12 | 135 y1268 2368 | 4 9 28 |
| 1259 6 4 | 159 128 289 | 3 28 7 |
+-----------------+--------------------+----------+
| f79 e39 6 | 2 34 5 | 8 47 1 |
| 8 d23 27 | 6 34 1 | 9 47 5 |
| 4 1 5 | 8 9 7 | 2 6 3 |
+-----------------+--------------------+----------+
| 127 8 y1237 | 13479 x12 2349 | 6 5 24 |
| x27 5 9 | a47 268 2468 | 1 3 248 |
| 6 4 123 | 13 5 238 | 7 28 9 |
+-----------------+--------------------+----------+

3rd step
XY chain abcdefg gives pincers of <4> in a + g to remove <4> from x
This sets h=4
4th step XYZ wing <289> pivot p to remove <2> from g
Code: |
+---------------+---------------------+--------------+
| 3 g29 8 | h49 7 .249 | 5 1 6 |
| 15 7 12 | 135 168 2368 | 4 9 28 |
| 159 6 4 | 159 g128 p289 | 3 .28 7 |
+---------------+---------------------+--------------+
| d79 e39 6 | 2 34 5 | 8 47 1 |
| 8 f23 27 | 6 34 1 | 9 47 5 |
| 4 1 5 | 8 9 7 | 2 6 3 |
+---------------+---------------------+--------------+
| c17 8 137 | x1349 b12 2349 | 6 5 a24 |
| 2 5 9 | 7 68 468 | 1 3 48 |
| 6 4 13 | 13 5 28 | 7 28 9 |

Thanks for the encouraging words! But I'm surely no expert! Chains like that are just easier to find for pencil and paper solvers like me. In fact, I only recently began learning the advanced techniques that I never got around to learning! Surprisingly, so far they've been easier to learn than I expected! |
