After basics, I was left with this surprisingly simple-looking grid. Except it wasn't so simple. I couldn't get a BUG+3 out of it. There were at least two XY-Chains and it succumbed easily to Medusa, but I'm wondering what else is in there.

Code:

+----------+-----------+---------+
| 3  4 158 | 9  258 17 | 12 6 78 |
| 27 9 18  | 6  28  17 | 3  5 4  |
| 27 6 158 | 25 4   3  | 12 9 78 |
+----------+-----------+---------+
| 5  3 6   | 4  7   9  | 8  1 2  |
| 9  2 4   | 3  1   8  | 5  7 6  |
| 1  8 7   | 25 25  6  | 9  4 3  |
+----------+-----------+---------+
| 8  5 3   | 1  6   4  | 7  2 9  |
| 6  7 2   | 8  9   5  | 4  3 1  |
| 4  1 9   | 7  3   2  | 6  8 5  |
+----------+-----------+---------+

Well... you could see it as an APE situation:

r2c56 cannot be 27 or 81. So, it must be either 21 or 87. Whichever of these it is, r1c56 cannot be the other (due to r1c79). So, r1c5 must be <5>.

An xy-chain from R2C5 to R1C7 eliminates the <2> from R1C5 and opens the puzzle.

This BUG-Lite+2 eliminates some fives for the solution.

The deadly pattern of this BUG-Lite is kind of pretty...
Code:

-- -- -- | -- bd ac | ab -- cd
bc -- ad | -- bd ac | -- -- --
bc -- ad | -- -- -- | ab -- cd
