The end of today's Brain Bashers Super Hard has an interesting twist. I have not seen it before.

Code:
Puzzle: BB112708sh
+-------+-------+-------+
| . . . | . 1 . | . . . |
| . . 9 | 2 . 4 | 8 . . |
| . 8 . | 7 3 6 | . 4 . |
+-------+-------+-------+
| . 4 7 | . . . | 5 1 . |
| 6 . 8 | . . . | 4 . 3 |
| . 3 1 | . . . | 6 8 . |
+-------+-------+-------+
| . 7 . | 3 9 8 | . 5 . |
| . . 3 | 5 . 1 | 7 . . |
| . . . | . 7 . | . . . |
+-------+-------+-------+

Even better, it has a pair which is both a W-wing and a complementary pair in an M-wing!

I just needed an x-wing to get to the BUG.

I eagerly await to see your wings. Very Happy

I get to the interesting "not BUG" situation with two x-wings. then w-wing.

edit... upon further review, I maybe wrong about this not being a BUG, but I am not sure of the rules and what eliminations it makes.

I didn't notice what you noticed. I used an X-Wing and a W-Wing, the latter probably being part of the interesting twist.

After basics and two X-wings, I get here:
Code:
+----------------+----------------+----------------+
| 7    26   4    | 8    1    9    | 3    26   5    |
| 3    16   9    | 2    5    4    | 8    67   17   |
| 15   8    25   | 7    3    6    | 29   4    19   |
+----------------+----------------+----------------+
| 29   4    7    | 6    8    3    | 5    1    29   |
| 6    59   8    | 1    2    57   | 4    79   3    |
| 25   3    1    | 9    4    57   | 6    8    27   |
+----------------+----------------+----------------+
| 14   7    26   | 3    9    8    | 12   5    46   |
| 48   29   3    | 5    6    1    | 7    29   48   |
| 1589 15   56   | 4    7    2    | 19   3    68   |
+----------------+----------------+----------------+

This is a BUG+1, except the +1 cell has four candidates, which I have never seen before. To kill the BUG, R9C1 is <15>, which makes a pair in R9, which solves the puzzle.

Also, the <15> cells in R39 are a W-wing =5 in C3, and a complementary pair both =1 via R2C2.

W-wing: One, or both, are <1>; Complementary pair: They are both the same. Ergo, they are both <1>.

Or, you can complete the M-wing =5 in R3C13, to take out <5> in R9C3.

Nice ending!

I took a couple of extra steps to get to the BUG condition, but completed the puzzle.

Of note, I saw a similar BUG several months ago and solved it and I meant to post a question to verify that I had resolved the situation correctly, but I got distracted (which is a problem with getting older and drinking to much wine) and forgot to do so. Anyway this puzzle verified I made the correct move.
