I don't believe that generalized M-Wings were considered to be in the pony stable. However, it points the way to a pony that is: a Medusa Wrap.

I performed a Search for "one trick pony" in these forums. There were 19 hits and none of them included an official list of "ponies". So, I did a Google search and found:

| I was also under the impression that "one trick" meant it might need a couple iterations of the same technique, not necessarily one move and done. for example, one puzzle may need 3 x-wings, or one might need 3 xy-wings. etc. |

The quote above states "One advanced step". Maybe a previous version of the instructions said "One advanced technique".
Note: X-Wing, Swordfish, and Jellyfish are "basic fish", so they aren't considered an advanced step. Neither is a UR Type 1 or a BUG.
I hope the BUG restriction really meant BUG+1. |

It was Ruud's SudoCue definition I was thinking of. And, I remembered incorrectly the exclusion as being Medusa multi-coloring, which a gM-Wing is just an instance of, instead of Tabling. (Tabling is not included in his solving guide, so listing it as the only exclusion pretty much means anything else goes, I suppose.)
BUG is included in this solving guide only as BUG+1. So, that's probably what is meant. |

Thanks Asellus for the clarification. However, you may have been right about the exclusion ... in the past. The above quote did say that the rules were being relaxed starting with puzzle 324. It's very possible that my gM-Wing wasn't acceptable prior to puzzle 324  |
