Over on the players forum, a thread was started to suggest a move on a particular grid. The thread was named "SAM#1." which can be found here...
http://www.sudoku.com/boards/viewtopic.php?t=6583
After getting permission from the originator of the thread (who has asked that I not name this thread "SAM") I wanted to share the concept here in the daily forum.
Basically, the idea is to look at a grid, like the one below, and post a move which you find interesting. get the heavy weaponry out and have at it. perhaps seeing different approaches to a given grid will be a learning experience or just a way to appreciate the different variety of moves available.
The following grid is a partially solved randomly generated puzzle from the Sudocue program and is rated 7.1 SE.

Code:
.---------------------.---------------------.---------------------.
| 28     6      28    | 1      4      579   | 59     3      579   |
| 13     13     9     | 8      579    2     | 4569   479    45679 |
| 4      59     7     | 6      59     3     | 1      8      2     |
:---------------------+---------------------+---------------------:
| 23     7      25    | 4      2589   1     | 239    6      89    |
| 9      8      246   | 37     27     67    | 234    5      1     |
| 236    234    1     | 35     2589   569   | 7      249    489   |
:---------------------+---------------------+---------------------:
| 5      249    2469  | 27     1      8     | 2469   2479   3     |
| 12678  12     268   | 9      3      4     | 256    127    567   |
| 127    1249   3     | 257    6      57    | 8      12479  479   |

I do look at that forum.

I don't get this idea.

I don't object to it, I just don't enjoy it.

First thing is to eliminate 9s based on the fact that r2c3 is already solved, then do a W-Wing on the 59s in boxes 23, after which I find myself here and haven't spent much time looking for more.

Code:

+---------------+------------+-----------------+
| 28   6    28  | 1   4   57 | 59   3     579  |
| 13   13   9   | 8   57  2  | 456  47    4567 |
| 4    5    7   | 6   9   3  | 1    8     2    |
+---------------+------------+-----------------+
| 23   7    5   | 4   28  1  | 239  6     89   |
| 9    8    24  | 37  27  6  | 234  5     1    |
| 6    234  1   | 35  258 9  | 7    24    48   |
+---------------+------------+-----------------+
| 5    249  246 | 27  1   8  | 2469 2479  3    |
| 1278 12   268 | 9   3   4  | 256  127   567  |
| 127  1249 3   | 257 6   57 | 8    12479 479  |
+---------------+------------+-----------------+

I'll pass on this one. The thread appears to be a couple of months old, and not going anywhere.

By the way, I will be offline until Friday.

As your favourite technique Very Happy , look at AUR(56)r28c79 => (5)r2c5=(6)r8c3
(5)r2c5=(6-8)r8c3=(8-7)r8c1=(7)r9c1-(7=5)r9c6 => r1c6<>5
