I tried this puzzle soon after it was initially posted but, after looking at it for some time, set it aside unfinished. Later, I looked at it again briefly but no breakthrough. Today I tried again from scratch and it was a simple three stepper.
A Kraken x-wing 7 in r16c45 with fin r6c1 deletes 7 in r9c5,
x-wing 7 r49c26 deletes 7 in r8c6,
kite 9 in box6 deletes 9 in r9c6.
Why is it that sometimes you simply can't see the obvious?
