after basics this one doesn't give up anything.
no xy-wings, no x-wings, no xyz-wings, no type 1-4 UR's
but I did find a way out.

Well, there's always the Atypical Extension of Non-Productive Skyscraper.

Code:
 after basics:

 non-productive Skyscraper for <6> in (*) cells
strong link on <5> intersects one end of Skyscraper and sees the other

           (5)r3c5 = (5-6)r3c4 = r3c1 - r7c1 = (6  )r7c5 => [r7c5]<>5
 (5)r7c5 - (5)r3c5 = (5-6)r3c4 = r3c1 - r7c1 = (6-5)r7c5
 +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+

 |  3      6      2      |  8      9      1      |  4      7      5      |

 # 64 eliminations remain

Does it qualify as useful?

Well,

There's also this:
Code:
+-------------------+-------------------+-------------------+
| 5     247   69    | 347   347   69    | 1     8     23    |
| 2789  247   49    | 1347  13478 379   | 5     6     23    |
| 68f   1     3     | 56    58e   2     | 7     4     9     |
+-------------------+-------------------+-------------------+
| 4     9     7     | 56    2     56    | 3     1     8     |
| 1     5     8     | 347   347   37    | 9     2     6     |
| 3     6     2     | 8     9     1     | 4     7     5     |
+-------------------+-------------------+-------------------+
| 67g   347b  1     | 9     567d  8     | 2     35c   47a   |
| 27    8     45    | 1237  1357  357   | 6     9     47    |
| 2679  237   569   | 27    567   4     | 8     35    1     |
+-------------------+-------------------+-------------------+

a <7> implies g <7>, so a <>7.

I think this is kind of ugly (it is the same length as Norm's chain), but beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

(There are shorter chains that make eliminations, but they are not one-steppers.)

My chain is five cells and a one-stepper.

Code:
(5)r3c5 = (5-6)r3c4 = r3c1 - r7c1 = (6)r7c5 => [r7c5]<>5

Even the discontinuous loop form is only five (distinct) cells.

Code:
(5)r7c5 - (5)r3c5 = (5-6)r3c4 = r3c1 - r7c1 = (6-5)r7c5

There's also a 5-cell discontinuous loop in [band 3] that's a one-stepper.

Code:
 (6-5)a = (5-4)b = (4)c - (4=7)d - (7=6)e - (6)a

after basic this reduces it to singles. (4 cells)

I looked at the potential DP of 35-37-57 in band 3. The first DP killer I looked at, the 4 in r7c2, was invalid and that's all that was needed.

Marty, column 5 r79 must have a six.
If you have a deadly pattern it might be using 3567.

I still don't understand what you mean about the 4 in r7c2.

What I meant was that the 4 in r7c2 was one of the possibilities that could kill the DP. When I determined what would happen if r7c2=4, it led to an invalidity, therefore, the 4 had to be removed and that was enough to finish the puzzle.

Well, an ick from me.

?You had the wrong DP and your solving was identical to a guess.
( I'll try the 4, it is wrong, I have it! )

Anyways, it worked.
