I didn't use any of the techniques you said weren't needed. I do wonder if I overlooked something in that maze of 1s, 3s and 6s.

Type 1 UR (29)
XY-Wing (136) with pincer transport
XY-Wing Chain (36-16-16-16-13)
Above with pincer transport
XY-Wing (361)

I didn't think it was particularly difficult. I'd have solved it with fewer steps, or so it looks from your diagram, had I used the X-Wing. Call it a habit, an idiosyncrasy, or whatever, but I hate looking for X-Wings and do so as a last resort, so if they're part of a solution, I'll usually need more steps.

Hello Marty,

Thanks for the update. I was afraid that the limited selection at each step made the puzzle appear harder than I'd intended. As long as you're having fun finding a solution, that's the most important thing to me.

Regards, Danny

I also started with the Type 1 UR 29, then an AIC found by extending the vertex of a potential xy-wing 1-36, and then a real xy-wing -136.

I never got around to looking for single digit patterns.
