One step.

A useless/flightless Remote Pair 48: r7c4, r8c6, r8c9 & r9c8. However both the 4 & 8 in r9c8 can be extended to r4c7:
(4)r9c8 - (4)r456c8 = (4)r4c7,
(8)r9c8 - (8)r456c8 = (8)r4c7.
Thus 48 is deleted in r4c4 to complete the puzzle.

I assume this pattern could also be viewed as a w-wing 48 in r4c7 & r7c4 with a kite in box9 acting as the strong link for both 4 & 8.
However it is viewed, it did the deed.

For me it was a flightless W-Wing (48) in r4c7 and r8c4 with pincer transport, deleting the 8 from r4c4.
