W-Wing <37>-7=7-<37> eliminating 3 in r4c7 solves the puzzle.

I saw four moves which I think would all have solved it. Three of them involved a 2: simple coloring, Kite and Skyscraper. The other one, which I used, was an XY-Wing (237) plus pincer transport.

I saw two skyscrapers 2 either of which solve the puzzle.

I enjoyed this one -- good basics.

X-wing:3 followed by xy-wing:247 also solves it

Another solution using digit 2 is a m-wing with ending pincers in r2c5 & r9c1.

Easy-to-spot skyscraper on rows 2 and 8 knocked out the 2 in R3C6.
Go Saints.

.

All the self congratulatory backslapping not withstanding, humbly I ask:

Code:

+---------+------------+---------------+
| 27 8  1 | 9  237 4   | 236  5   36   |
| 4  27 3 | 6  27  5   | 9    8   1    |
| 6  5  9 | 8  123 12* | 234  7   34   |
+---------+------------+---------------+
| 37 9  4 | 57 157 6   | 137  2   8    |
| 5  37 8 | 2  4   179 | 1367 39  3679 |
| 1  6  2 | 3  8   79  | 5    49  479  |
+---------+------------+---------------+
| 39 4  6 | 57 579 8   | 37   1   2    |
| 8  23 5 | 1  6   279 | 347  349 3479 |
| 29 1  7 | 4  29  3   | 8    6   5    |
+---------+------------+---------------+

DRAW/PLAY gives hint of '1' at r3c6. What is the line of reasoning?

I don't know if it's DRAW/PLAY's reasoning, but there's a skyscraper on 2 in rows 2 and 8.

Ema,

1-9 has to be in box 9 so R8C6 is 27.

2- there is an x-wing on 3( rows 4 and 7) so 3 is out of R3C7 and R8C7

then R3C7 =24 and R8C7=47

3- R8C6,R3C7 and R8C7 form an xy-wing(27,24 and 47) that

eliminates 2 of R3c6

Bingo.

Thank you. The steps and line of reasoning makes sense and is easy to follow. (Sorry to have to admit to being unable to follow painting skyscrapers with triple x-man wings with a side order of pincer transports.)
