Three steps:
X-wing on 3, chain on 12, UR on 47 in boxes 7 and 8

I did the basics twice to insure I had not made a silly error since the puzzle turned over and died with one simple step.

Wow, Ted, I guess my other two steps were superfluous.

Wendy, this once again illustrates the luck in the order you find/make your steps. I normally look at the bivalue cells immediately after basics and that is why I found the UR in this case. Luck usually plays a part in the number of steps required to complete the puzzle.

Same one-stepper as Ted. I can attest to the fact that the sequence of looking can make a huge difference. For example, I dislike searching for X-Wings/Skyscrapers, so I exhaust other possibilities. If an X-Wing or Skyscraper is a key move, then I'm likely to have used many more moves. Of course, that's just one example.

Absolutely right, Ted and Marty. And I'm just the opposite: I enjoy finding X-wings so that's always one of my first steps.
