Yes, that is what I found.

Not at all. It doesn't make it easy nor does it make the puzzle boring.
I happened to spot a quad 1479 in box 2 rather early in the process, when doing the "fiver" houses (i.e. those houses with 5 soved cells), that helped a lot.
A good "hard" sudoku beats a wimpy VH any day  |
