Yep, there were indeed lots of basics after the fact.

Looking at it again in after the benefit of a good night's sleep
I notice that there's also a 19 W-wing in c56 which sets r2c6 to 4
and starts the long road home.

I don't see a solution listed in Hugh's 1st posting. I only see an 'A' and an empty box labeled with 'quote'. Maybe it's just my computer? Anyway, I thought I'd mention that after performing the basic processing that Hugh pointed out in his 1st post, I solved it with the 389 XY wing centered at r3c8 which forces r7c7 to be 4. Everything fell into place after that.

What Hugh has done is to hide his solution so readers don't accidentally see it if they don't want to. The way to do that is to use the quote feature and change the font color to create white on white. To see his solution select (highlight) what's in the quote box.

Oh! I see! thanks for explaining that Marty! But why would anyone go to the 'Discussion' link unless they expected to see the solution? Oh well, maybe I'm not like everyone else. Thanks again, I'll remember that!

Don, this goes back to the days when people published other puzzles. People would open the thread so they could copy the puzzle. If the original poster included his solution, players would see it when they didn't want to. That's what started the practice of hiding the solution by doing the white on white thing.

Oh, now that you're talking about tradition it makes even more sense to me. I'm an old-time traditionalist myself. It looks like Hugh picked a good puzzle to do this with because I found the 'basics' of this one to be a lot tougher than finding the XY wing! Thanks, Don.
