The new month's consecutive VH. But not really VH:
The 13-8 XY pivot r1c5 or 38-1 XY pivot r1c7 couldn't really be
more obvious!

I don't believe in jinxes any more than I believe we are going to get better, more challenging, vh puzzles anytime soon. Remember the astonishing one that needed about six vh moves to solve? Was that in this decade?
Anyway, I appreciate Marty's efforts to disguise the r1c5 pivot on this VH by not completing that diabolical locked candidate 8 in Box 5. But even so, when all of the remaining candidates are 1, 3 or 8, it's not hard to know what tricky XY to look for. |

That locked candidate is hiding very well, as I can't see it. |

Quit kidding around Marty! You can see the locked 8's in column 5 of box 5 which eliminates the 8 from r1c5 - or of course you get the same result if you use the locked 8's in column 6 of box 2. I know you see it! |

OK, I erred on basics, which is the rule, not the exception. I made the comment about not seeing it because I was staring at Hugh's grid rather than my original. Ireland gives me way too much credit. |
