Sometimes I find 'nice' clean chains for 1sudoku's Evil puzzles - and then sometimes I find ones so ugly that I have trouble representing them in Eureka (like this one)!

I can't find it! Someone cleaned off the dining room table (I can assure you it wasn't me!) I'm going to try to redo it! Darn it all. |

| Okay, well that wasn't so bad - I found this elegant solution just as easily the second time. Boy, it's just as ugly this time as it was the first time I found it. Okay, here goes: 7r7c9-(7=45)r7c12-(5=28)r89c2-2r5c2=(2-7)r5c6=r8c6-r8c1 (no 7 in c1 or B7) contradiction =>r7c9<>7 solves it. Alright now, all you experts, you know that I want your advice! Don, Ive seen solutions that are a little stronger in the elegance department.
The first two ALS's could get you in trouble under different circumstances. The first one has two 5s. Had you needed a 5 in either c1 or c2, the ALS would've been invalid because you couldn't say that the 5 belonged in one cell or the other. You got away with it because both cells are in the same box. Same concept with the 2s in the 2nd ALS. It worked because both both are in the same column. Had you wanted to continue the chain in either r8 or r9, the ALS putting a 2 in either row would've been invalid. |

| Thanks Marty! I think I need some more practice! Hey, you know what? Just glancing at it again I noticed that the dumbest thing of all was involving r7c9. It's not even necessary. It's still ugly but starting with r7c1<>7 and showing that r8c1<>7 would have been a little more elegant for sure! ugh. |
