Eliminate 4 from r9c1 as r7c2 =3, r7c8 = 7, r7c9 = 4 then no 4's in box 8
Then r3c3 <> 4 as r3c7 = 1, r8c7 = 4 leaving no 4's in box 7

(7=3)r7c8 - (3=9)r7c2 - r1c2 = r1c1 - (9=1|7)r4c18 - (1=4)r4c6 - (4=8)r1c6 - (8=1|3)r6c26 - (1=7)r6c9 => r7c9 <> 7; stte. |

When doing these "tricky" ones I find I take about 6 or 7 steps to solve, knowing that most of them do not do anything to actually forward to a solution.
If I look it again: ( forgetting the 7 in r1c7 haha)
r6c5 can't be a 7 because 69 pair in box 5 gives 9 in r4c1 and r1c2 , 3 in r7c2, and a single 1 in both r6c2+9 |

Also r6c5 <>7 because if you stay in rows 6 + 7 you get 7-1-3-9 gives 4 in r7c5 and a UR of 69 rows 5 + 9 |

Hello all,
I don't try to solve in one step, I just make eliminations as warranted. This one can be solved with mostly VH skills. There was one Skyscraper that helped as well, which is why I called it a VH (+?). The purists will say that a Skyscraper is not a VH technique, which in our realm is true. But it is simple enough to understand and implement. This one took me 5 steps, with some rinsing in between.

The rest was done with X-Wings, finned and regular, and ended with an XY-Wing. |
