Why does r9c8 have to be a 4?
On the other hand, observe that the pair of numbers left for r2 are 2 and 9; since the 9 cannot be placed in r2c4, it must go in r2c9 etc.

r8c3 is given as 6 in the PUZZLE (i.e. it is 'fixed' from the outset). Thus these are not solutions to the same puzzle but to 2 different puzzles.
