Hi Marty and all,
I think all Paolo is saying, regardless of whether his basics are complete, is that a 2 in r3c5 leads to a contradiction, in that r6c5 (in box 5) must be a 1, while at the same time ...

There is also a hidden 159 triple in c5 that lets you set 3r5c5, but you still need an X wing on 6 or Clement's wing or another XY of 46-7 pivoted in r4c5 to solve it.
I would not have posted this, b ...

When you get to the point where the naked 189 triple is there, the seven can also be exposed as a sole candidate ( in either box 1 or c2 ) by the 36 hidden pair in r12c2.
I don't know if hidden pair ...

I saw your 26-8 XY, but then I got to here and needed a 28-3 XY to finish.

Hi Clement,
I think there may be a mistake somewhere, maybe a typo, but setting 5r4c5 does not lead me to a solution.

I've just finished with today’s H, and I have to say I still love a good H one. Sure the VH are stimulating and fun, if you ...

Look at the 4's in row 4.

I might be in the minority among posters here, but I prefer the H puzzles to most of the VH ones we get.
The H's are usually more complex in the basics and therefore are more like what I liked abou ...

I don't know what to call it, but the 58 pairs in r3c9 and r7c3 (acting as pincers) are linked together by the 56 pairs in r5c39 (acting as the pivot), so -8r7c9. It works like an XY wing, but the pi ...

Hi Marty,
We've had a real drought of Eureka lately, so I'm glad to see a few sprinkles. However, I don't follow your logic. If I understand it, you are essentially saying "If r7c7 were a 7 th ...

It didn't help in the end, but I noticed that r7c7 (67) and r8c6 (67) were locked together by r7c4 (67); that is r7c7 and r8c6 are either both 6 or are both 7.

There is a potential 23-7 XY pivoted ...

More and more lately I have been using the "Fishy" xy with these VH puzzles. Today I used the Fishy 135 xy pivoted in r1c8, with pincers at r2c9 and r1c2, to eliminate the 5 in r2c5. With ...

I was trying to do too much with this Eureka notation. I thought it was a means to discovery, but instead it's only a method to show what was discovered some other way.
I had mistakenly th ...
