I think this puzzle needs an x-wing on 2 (cols 2,8).
After that, one can either go the multi-coloring way (on 5),
or use 2 connected xy-wings (25-29-59 and 25-59-29 in boxes 2,3) and a remote pair 59 (the chain looks simple enough: 59-59-59-59) to solve this baby. |

that xy-chain should solve it, nataraj
or at least another piece of it to go along.
Code: | .------------------.------------------.------------------.
| 569 1 2569 | 8 25 4 | 2579 3 579 |
| 4 25 3 | 9 1 7 | 258 258 6 |
| 589 7 2589 | 6 25 3 | 1 4 59 |
:------------------+------------------+------------------:
| 2 6 #59 | 7 8 1 | 4 #59 3 |
| 3 8 1 | 5 4 9 | 6 7 2 |
| 59 4 7 | 3 6 2 | 58 589 1 |
:------------------+------------------+------------------:
| 1 9 4 | 2 3 68 | 57 #56 578 |
| 7 #25 2-58 | 1 9 68 | 3 #26 4 |
| 68 3 268 | 4 7 5 | 29 1 89 |
'------------------'------------------'------------------' |
starting in r4c3 {59}-{59}-{56}-{26}-{25} ending in r8c2 removes the 5 in r8c3 |

This is a very delicious puzzle! My only unusual move was an extended XY-wing.
(Ask me how?)

Agreed. But I probably needed more moves than anyone else. I played 13 moves, including X-Wing, swordfish, multi-coloring, URs, including a Type 6, W-Wings and XY-Wings, including pincer coloring on both.
The swordfish was my first in perhaps two years. I saw an extended XY-Wing which Keith mentioned, which I learned as XY-Wing Chain, but couldn't do anything with it, even with pincer coloring. |
