Looks like my turn to lead off. I had a lot of fun with this one, but I know I missed something and/or did things in the wrong sequence. It took me eight moves, all run-of-the-mill moves that are commonly discussed here, with an XY-Wing finally breaking it open. |

Is this the puzzle your speaking of?
Code: |
*-----------*
|...|...|1.8|
|.8.|...|...|
|.57|.1.|.46|
|---+---+---|
|.2.|.56|9..|
|.7.|4.9|.5.|
|..5|73.|.1.|
|---+---+---|
|53.|.6.|78.|
|...|...|.6.|
|2.6|...|...|
*-----------*
|
I solved it with singles and locked candidates Nothing advanced needed. |

No Dan, the grid you showed was the August 24 Hard. |

I also had a good time for a total of 5 everyday steps with a single transport and only twice did I even delete the same digit. By happenstance, I also finished off with a xy-wing.

Sorry about that We apparently get the puzzle late here in Arkansas.
Needed two xy-flags to solve it. Found a kite and skyscrapper that were not needed. |

I love a killer xyz that eliminates lots of digits! In this case, ones.
BTW this was yet another puzzle where we didn't need to use x-wings. |

I found the above xyz-wing but it only removed 1 candidate and didn't seem to help solve the puzzle. What am I missing? |

Quite straightforward really - once I'd gone through these steps.
A Type 4 UR on <45>
An ER on <4>
An ER on <6>
An xyz-wing <136>
An xy-wing <146>
An xy-wing <269> |

After basics, one xy-wing 46-14-16 in boxes 4 and 7 removes 6 from r78c1.
After that, another xy-wing 29-69-26 boxes 7 and 8 eliminates 2 from r7c5 and r9c2. |
