|
|
I found two other solutions to the 5 Nov puzzle besides the one given on the board. I thought solutions were supposed to be unique?
Here are the other two solutions:
482 367 951 *** 482 367 951
917 452 386 *** 917 452 683
563 198 742 *** 563 198 742
825 713 469 *** 825 713 469
731 946 528 *** 731 946 528
649 825 137 *** 649 825 137
294 581 673 *** 294 581 376
176 234 895 *** 176 234 895
358 679 214 *** 358 679 214
The important difference is the "2" at row 7, col. 1. The given solution has a "3" there, and there is only one solution with a "3". But a "2" also works, and gives you 3-6 pairs at 2/7 2/9 7/7 and 7/9, for two possible solutions. |

Yes, this is NOT the puzzle from this site for 5th November.
Please post the original puzzle you are working from as there is only one solution to each proper Sudoku puzzle. |

I can't account for it. I tried the puzzle for 5 Nov and got the three solutions I described. When I look now, the 5 Nov puzzle is different. My mind must be mush.

Hi,
Maybe it was the one from 5 Nov 2006 ;-)
Or maybe it was quickly corrected by the author of the page ?! ...

I did do this once in the early days, but unless something really serious happens I will endevour never to do this again. Accidental puzzle repetition is preferable to having different versions of 5th Nov puzzle floating about in my view.
