xy-wing {4,6,9} removes 6 from r3c8
x-wing removes 9's from r7c3 and r4c3
opens up the {4,6} in r4c3 to make an extended w-wing to eliminate 4 from r5c23
xy-wing {1,4,6} finishes |

I also started with the xy-wing<469> and then the x-wing <9>,
then I found a xy-wing <246> with pivot <46>,
an ER <4> with hinge in box4,
xy-wing <469> with pivot <46> in r4c3.
At this point, I had the following code:
Code: |
*-----------------------------------------------------------*
| 7 9 8 | 1 5 3 | 6 2 4 |
| 2 3 14 | 6 49 78 | 17 89 5 |
| 16 146 5 | 2 49 78 | 17 89 3 |
|-------------------+-------------------+-------------------|
| 68 7 46 | 48 3 5 | 2 1 9 |
| 5 2 9 | 7 1 6 | 4 3 8 |
| 18 14 3 | 48 2 9 | 5 6 7 |
|-------------------+-------------------+-------------------|
| 9 16 1267 | 3 67 4 | 8 5 26 |
| 4 5 26 | 9 8 1 | 3 7 26 |
| 3 8 67 | 5 67 2 | 9 4 1 |
*-----------------------------------------------------------*
|
We now have two interacting Type 1 URs; either alone destroys the other.
UR<67> r79c35 deletes <67> from r7c3
UR <26> r78c39 deletes <26> from r7c3
Together r7c3=1 and completes the puzzle. I do not recall seeing a situation like this before; interesting!

I used a few XYs, a hidden and Type 4 UR, and a couple of ERs. At that point it could be finished with either the 146 XY-Wing or BUG+1. |
