This puzzle can be solved with VH+ techniques, but my solver used several steps. Maybe you'll find a shorter path and not need the 2-String Kites.

Code:
 +-----------------------+
 | 8 5 9 | . . 2 | . . 7 |
 | 1 . . | 9 . . | . . . |
 | 2 . 4 | . 6 . | . 1 9 |
 |-------+-------+-------|
 | . 4 . | 1 . . | . . . |
 | . . 5 | . . . | 6 . 4 |
 | 9 . . | . . . | . . . |
 |-------+-------+-------|
 | . . . | . 2 . | 5 . . |
 | . . 6 | . . . | . 9 . |
 | 4 . 2 | . 7 . | . . 6 |
 +-----------------------+

A real Bend But Don't Break (BBDB). I used ten steps which I am sure is more than your solver Danny.

This puzzle seemed to have few choices during the early phase; I had to look and look to find an elimination. A couple of bivalue cells were important in the later period.

I did use one normal kite but nothing out of the ordinary.

My solver took more than ten steps, but that's (probably) because it found several ERs and such. I didn't make a manual pass through the solution to see what might be extraneous.

Regards, Danny
