Hey Geoff,
O.k. here we are. It was rated 5 of 5stars in the local paper here in San Diego
and the program described it as hard so I don't feel too bad about getting stuck.
I only got eleven numbers deciphered (mostly through simple triangulation) before I hit an impass and asked the program for a hint.
The number it gave is the 2 in R7 C3.
The box needs 2, 3, 6, 7. The 6 must go in C2. 2 can go in C1. I see nothing excluding a 7 from going in C3.
x x x 6 x x 4 9 x
9 5 1 7 x 4 6 2 x
4 8 6 2 x x x x 7
7 1 x 4 2 x x 3 x
x 4 3 x x x 2 x x
x 2 x x x x x 7 4
8 x 2 x x x x 4 x
x x 5 9 4 1 x 8 x
1 9 4 x x 2 x x x

I should have noticed that row 7 needs only 1 & 9 at the far right box.
Making the 2 at R8 C9 a more obvious find than the hint the program gave me. |

Good to see someone_somewhere could help you. Yes, sometimes the Hint given is not the most helpful ( or logical ) one.
The best tip I can give is really concentrating on the Column/Row interaction with the individual boxes.
Good luck!!

Hi Guest,
I'm not really sure what your question is and how far you have got in the puzzle??
If you follow the logical thread posted by someone somewhere, you should be able to complete the puzzle. Otherwise, please post how far you have got and we can help from there.
Cheers. |
