A fun puzzle! My last step eliminated two different digits in ten cells; a big winner.
Quote:
x-wing 7,
finned x-wing 4,
x-wing 8,
Type 2 UR with x-wing overlay for ten eliminations

Ted,
you can apply a form of a UR deduction right from the start for a one stepper.
I am guessing you saw the UR {1,6} in r78c47 ?

notice that there exists only one other 6 in column 7 at A in my grid and no other 1 in that column.
this means the the 6 is the only candidate that can exist at A which eliminates 2,4,7,8,9 and solves the puzzle.
in other words if the 6 does not exist at A then the deadly pattern is forced to exist.

Great observation Norm. I purposely did not look for URs early, but I could not resist later when the Type 2 UR 16 just jumped out and it had so many deletions.

The Type 4 UR on 16 was also my one-stepper.
