Keith, the point of language is communication. If you decide to call autos and trucks "bicycles", because they all use wheels and carry people, that is going to make it hard for people to know what you are talking about. Is there a good point to that?
This is an old argument, the als people claim that Sue de coq and xyz-wings and xy-wings (and so on) are just ALS and they don't like subsets having names. For that matter chaining folk claim xy-wings and such as just chains, why differentiate? Oh, colorful folk don't see swordfish unless they daub ink on them, and still they overfill the grid.
You can claim lower down patterns and be correct. Claiming that an x-wing is a jellyfish is just absurd. IMHO.
