I found this puzzle to be in the category of the "Bend But Don't Break" variety; very much like one of Danny's great BBDB puzzles.
My NINE moves were:
Hidden UR68,
ER7,
ER9,
coloring 9,
coloring 9,
extended xy-wing34-7,
coloring 7,
x-wing on 7, and finally
xy-wing 2-67
My wife says it is to early to hit the scotch, so I think I will just go back to bed to recover.

skyscraper on 9's in columns 2 and 9 removes 9 from r8c8 and r9c3
Code: | +-----------------+--------------------+-----------------+
| 1 5 26 | 267(9) 267 4 | 7(9) 8 3 |
| 36 68 2368 | 2679 1 267-9 | 5 79 4 |

| 3467 2 346 | 5 8 67(9) | 36 1 7(9) |
+-----------------+--------------------+-----------------+ |
coloring move on 9 removes 9 from r8c4 and r2c6
hmm, now what?
looks like the key to the next move would be to extend a M-wing, but not extending it from the end that one normally would.
Code: | +----------------+----------------+---------------+
| 1 5 2 | 679 67 4 | 79 8 3 |
| 36 68 38 | 279 1 27 | 5 79 4 |
| 9 4 7 | 8 3 5 | 1 6 2 |
+----------------+----------------+---------------+
| 8 3 49 | 2467 267 267 | 79 5 1 |
| 6(4) 69 1 | (47) 5 8 | 2 3 9(7) |
| 2 7 5 | 1 9 3 | 8 4 6 |
+----------------+----------------+---------------+
| 5 1 6 | 3 27 279 | 4 279 8 |
| 37 89 89 | 267 4 1 | 36 27 5 |
| 3-7(4) 2 34 | 5 8 679 | 36 1 9(7) |
+----------------+----------------+---------------+ |
notice that starting from the pair {4,7} in r5c4 to {4}r5c1 to {4}r9c1 is a partial M-wing.
so we can extend it from the starting cell, to {7}r5c9 to {7}r9c9.
(7)r9c9 = (7)r5c9 - (7=4)r5c4 - (4)r5c1 = (4)r9c1; r9c1 <> 7
Code: | +------------+---------------+----------------+
| 1 5 2 | 79 6 4 | 79 8 3 |
| 36 68 38 | 279 1 2-7 | 5 (79) 4 |
| 9 4 7 | 8 3 5 | 1 6 2 |
+------------+---------------+----------------+
| 8 3 49 | 247 27 6 | 79 5 1 |
| 46 69 1 | 47 5 8 | 2 3 79 |
| 2 7 5 | 1 9 3 | 8 4 6 |
+------------+---------------+----------------+
| 5 1 6 | 3 27 279 | 4 (79) 8 |
| 7 89 89 | 6 4 1 | 3 2 5 |
| 34 2 34 | 5 8 (79) | 6 1 (79) |
+------------+---------------+----------------+ |
remote pair {7,9} finishes. removes 7 from r2c6 |
