Hi,
Supposing that this is what you want to solve:
, Code: | ..8|.2.|...
16.|4..|.8.
4.5|..7|...
-----------
6..|2..|.4.
.1.|...|.7.
.5.|..6|..9
-----------
...|9..|4.3
...|..3|.12
...|.6.|8.. |
I don't know from where you have this very nice puzzle, but it has multiple solutions.
You yould never trust anybody, not even yourself ...
P.S. I lost also a lot of time with a lot of puzzles from "some" internet pages, to find out at the end that they had multiple solutions.
My advice, use a program to check them before you are waisting your energy ...
see u,[/code] |

Hi,
David has pointed out a missing 9 in r8c2 in our initial (left) table.
If we start now from your right table:
Code: | . . 8 . 2 . . . 4
1 6 . 4 . . . 8 .
4 . 5 . . 7 . . .
6 . . 2 . . . 4 .
. 1 . . . 4 . 7 .
. 5 4 . . 6 . . 9
. . . 9 . . 4 . 3
. 9 . . 4 3 . 1 2
. 4 . . 6 . 8 9 . |
you can figure out:
- Nacked Pair 5 7 in r2c9 and r9c9 (same Column)
- 5 in r4c7 or r5c7 of the 3x3 (3x3 Block on Row/Column interaction)
and eliminate it from r1c7, r2c7 and r8c7
- Hidden Pair 5 8 in r8c1 and r8c4 (in Row)
and finally:
- 8 in r4c2 r7c2 r4c6 r7c6 (X-Wing on Row)
and eliminate it from r7c1, r4c5, r7c5 and r4c9
and now we have cracked it by setting:
1 in r4c9
the rest is easy ...
see u, and thank you David,

Hi, Daykart! Hi, someone!
Just a quick note to say that I've indeed verified that the second position shown above can be reached easily if we put the "9" at r8c2. If that "9" is not in the initial puzzle, there's no way to reach the second position shown in Daykart's original message (and the puzzle has multiple solutions -- plus it's asymmetrical). So it must have been a typo. dcb |
