Normally I find xy-chain ok - but I couldn't see one that helped after basics...
But after a fishy cycle I had an xy-chain "wrap"...
Quote: | Fishy cycle (7)r1c6=r1c7-r8c7=r8c3-r2c3=r3c2; r3c67<>7
xy-chain (4=7)r2c3-(7=3)r2c6-(3=2)r3c6-(2=4)r3c7-(4=7)r3c2-(7=4)r2c3; forces 4 in r2c3
xy-wing(236); r1c9<>2 |
Where did I go wrong! |

Lots of fun -- The Texas Two Step: Quote: | (1)r9c7=(1-7)r1c7=r1c6-(7=3)r2c6-r2c9=(3-1)r7c9=(1)r9c7; r9c7=1
xy-wing 723 removes 7's from r8c7 and r2c8 |

Peter: The "chain" puzzles aren't meant to be solved with XY-Chains. That's why you needed the Fishy Cycle to expose one.
Regards, Danny
BTW: It's still a nice solution! |

Danny, thanks - I'll keep that in mind. Chain covers a lot of possibilities.
Thanks for posting these puzzles.

Looking at the implications of a 26 UR, r8c7<>7. After that cleanup, an XY-Wing (362) finishes it. |
