Four steps.

Quote:
ER 3 with hinge in b4 and strong link r1c26; r4c6<>3,
ER 3 with hinge in b2 and strong link r25c5; rrc2<>3,

UR13 in r29c46 forms pseudocell 278,
Combine with 78 in r2c8 to form ALS 278,
ALS278[(7)r2c68 = (2)r2c6]r2c468 - (2=7_r7c6 - r7c13 = (7)r8c1; r2c1<>7
(Fun step, but not very useful!)

xy-wing -237 with vertex 37 in r1c6.

Ted

Three steps with a nice closing xy-chain...

Quote:
Kite(3); r5c3<>3
Colouring(3); r4c6<>3
xy-chain (3=7)r1c6-(7=9)r1c8-(9=4)r6c8-(4=7)r6c9-(7=3)r6c2; r1c2<>3

Peter,

Isn't that first elimination of 3 from r5c2 and not r5c3 ? I have it after basics that r5c3 is already 1 ? Either way its a neat solve path.

If you don't catch the ERs at the beginning, like Ted, then I'm sure this puzzle could be a bear.
