I have just started doing these very hard puzzles and solved it with a type 6 Unique Rectangle with 26. Anyone else use this? |

I suppose you are referring to the pattern in rows 2 and 8 / cols 3 and 7.
Careful, this is NOT a UR pattern.
For the "deadly" pattern, the two "floor" cells must be in one box, and the two "roof" cells must be in another box.
In this case here, there are two cells with 26 in rows 2 and 8, two cells with 26 in columns 3 and 7, but only ONE each in boxes 1,3,7,9. Thus, the solution is unique because the content of each cell would be determined by the other eight cells in the box. |

Ohh right... that didn't strike me. I eliminated 2s from r2c3 and r8c7. i guess i just got lucky to solve it then |
